Playgroup at the Live Oak Pumpkin Patch

We visited Live Oak Canyon Pumpkin Patch today with the kids and all our Stroller Strides friends. The kids had a great time taking a hay ride through the pumpkin patch and seeing the maze of corn. Most of all I think they enjoyed feeding the goats in the petting zoo. It was a day of fun and new discoveries. We looked at and felt all the different types of pumpkins and sorted through piles of gourds to see which one made the perfect instrument. We can't wait to decorate our pumpkins for the big day...Halloween!

Mom of the Month, Riverside - Kim Bennett

KIM AND CALEB AT CASTLEVIEW PARK

Who are the members of your family?
Hubby: John
Son: Caleb
Me: Kim

What was/is your previous and/or current career?
I used to work for Cardinal Health as an Inventory Analyst. My main job function was to maintain the proper inventory levels of hospital supplies/medical equipment for hospitals in the Salt Lake City, UT and Fife, WA areas.
My current career is Stay-at-Home-Mommy to 6 month old Caleb! It's the best job I've ever had!

Why did you decide to be a stay at home mom?
I don't want to miss out on a minute of my baby's life! He is growing up so fast and I know I will never get this time again. I am so blessed to be able to witness everything first-hand. All of the financial sacrifices are totally worth it!

What does motherhood mean to you?
Motherhood means doing the best I can every day for my family. It's the best thing that has ever happened to me.

How long have you been a Stroller Strides member and
what has Stroller Strides done for you?
I joined SS in May of this year when my son was 8 weeks old. It has given me my old body back -- only now I'm much stronger and I have a lot more energy! And I know I'll need that extra energy to chase after Caleb in a few months! In addition to the physical benefits, SS has allowed me the opportunity to meet other moms and their kids and develop friendships along the way.

What are three of your favorite things (besides your husband and kids!)?
1. Chocolate!, 2. Hanging out with friends and family, 3. Traveling to new places

Tell us something about you that would surprise us.
I grew up on an island named Kwajalein. It was 3 miles long and half a mile wide! I lived there until I was 10 years old.

If we asked your husband what he thought your best qualities are, what would he say for personality? physically?
Personality: I just asked him and he says I'm loving and caring and fun. Good answers. :)
Physically: My bootie (which is much smaller since I've started SS), eyes, smile and laugh.
